Jean Ann Heiney July 18, 1938 - Feb. 8, 2018

Jean Ann Heiney, 79, of Huntington, died at 5:29 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Ind. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Zen Hess and Rev. Richard Strick officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Peter’s First Cemetery in Huntington.

Preferred memorials are to St. Peter’s First Community Church, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN, 46750.

Jean was born on July 18, 1938 in Huntington, the daughter of Homer Glynn and Grace (Kilander) Biehl. She was a 1956 graduate of Huntington High School and married Robert Paul Heiney on Sept. 6, 1958 in Huntington. She retired from Public Service Indiana, now Duke Energy, in 1994. She worked as Secretary in the Music Department at Huntington College, now Huntington University and as an Administrative Assistant at the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce. Jean was a member of St. Peter’s First Community Church in Huntington, where in years past she served as Elder, Past President of the Council, Trustee, Past President of the Women’s Fellowship, and Founder of the Color Me New Women’s Retreat. She also sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. She volunteered and served as a past Secretary of the Salvation Army Board of Directors, Love in the Name of Christ, Merillat Center for the Arts, Forks of the Wabash, and Past President and Past National Recording Secretary of Sigma Eta Sorority Fine Arts Inc., Past President of the “30” Home Extension Club, and Vice President of the Huntington County Extension Homemakers Club. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and scrapbooking, and she loved being with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Robert Paul Heiney of Huntington; a daughter, Deborah Sue (Hal) Schwartz of Markle; sons John Christopher Heiney of Huntington and Gregory Allen (Marci) Heiney of Andrews; grandsons Zachary Ryan (Danielle) Schwartz, Robert Maxwell Schwartz, and Johnathan Allen Heiney; a granddaughter, Chelsea Marie Heiney; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers George Frederick Biehl and Keith Eugene Biehl, and sisters Phyllis Jane Meyer and Marilyn Joyce Geyer.
