Two stabbings in Huntington in less than a week

There have been two stabbings in Huntington in less than a week. Both resulted in non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a press release issued from the Huntington Police Department, on Thursday Feb. 8 at approximately 5:36 p.m. Huntington police units were dispatched to 41 E. Park Drive (Park Loft Apartments) in reference to a stabbing.

Upon arrival, units were advised the suspect, Joseph Abner, 23, Huntington, had left the area. Officers located the victim, a 30-year-old female suffering from a stab wound. Parkview Huntington Hospital transported the victim to a Fort Wayne Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 9:12 p.m., the Huntington Police Department located the suspect in the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. where he was taken into custody. He was then transported to the Huntington Police Annex to speak with investigators.

Abner was later transported to the Huntington County Jail where he is being held on the following charge: Level 5 Felony Battery with a deadly weapon.

The investigation is ongoing, police agencies involved were the Huntington Police Department, Huntington County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police.

Earlier in the week, Huntington Police responded to another stabbing.

On Sunday February 4 at approximately 7:03 p.m., Huntington Police units were dispatched to the 600 block of Oak Street in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival police found an adult male suffering from a stab wound. Parkview Huntington Hospital transported the victim to a Fort Wayne Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 17-year old suspect was detained.
