Charles M. 'Charlie' Crain May 22, 1934 - Oct. 3, 2019

Charles M. “Charlie” Crain, age 85, of Huntington, died at 11:04 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Dr., Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, with Rev. Ray Seilhamer and Father Tony Steinacker officiating. There will be 1 hour of visitation at the church prior to the service. Entombment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.

Preferred memorials are to Boys and Girls Club of Huntington County, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750.

Charlie was born on May 22, 1934 in Maysville, Kentucky, the son of Owsley S. and Mildred N. (Ratliff) Crain. He graduated from Maysville High School in 1952 and attended Asbury College in Willmore, Kentucky; he also attended Ball State Teacher’s College. He worked at Sam Snyder Ford in North Manchester. He married Julie A. Manes on Jan. 31, 2005. For 42 years, Charlie was the owner of Crain Ford in Warren. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball, golf, and basketball; his favorite was watching Big U.K. Basketball.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Julie A. Crain of Huntington, daughters Cynthia Crain of Maryville, Tennessee and Carol (Tim) Galvin of Tuftonboro, New Hampshire, a stepdaughter, Cassandra (Scott) Rakoczy of Huntington, a stepson, Michael (Sarah) Kocher of Huntington, 6 grandchildren, and a brother, Mark M. (Judith) Crain of Hillsboro, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his parents, a stepdaughter, Emma Kocher, and a grandchild.
