The Huntington North Marching Band accepted an invitation to participate in the National Veterans’ Day celebrations in Washington D.C., in November. The students will perform at the Lincoln Memorial, the D.C. War Memorial, the World War II Memorial and the Air Force Memorial, overlooking Arlington National Cemetery.

Students will also have the opportunity to pay respects at the Tomb of the Unknowns and visit national museums and monuments.

HNHS band is working to raise $5,000 by Sept. 14 to help cover transportation costs associated with the trip. All donations go directly towards deferring the cost of this trip.

People or businesses interested in contributing a donation can contact Band Director Michael Petek at mpetek@hccsc.k12.in.us, Assistant John Gardner at jgardner@hccsc.k12.in.us, or message through the Huntington North Bands Facebook page for more information.

“It is our pleasure and privilege to play a part in honoring our veterans, and we need your help,” said Petek in a press release from Huntington North Bands. “Any donations – large or small – will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in providing a once in a lifetime experience for these student musicians.”

Checks may be made payable to the HNHS Band Parent Organization and mailed to: HNHS Bands – DC Trip, Huntington North High School, 450 MacGahan St, Huntington, IN, 46750.
