A 69-year-old man was arrested on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor and incest, according to court records.

Richard Dale Hostetter, of Purdy Missori was charged with a Level 4 felony for sexual misconduct with a minor in addition to five counts of incest, a Level 5 felony.

The Department of Child Services notified police after recieving information from the victim, according to a probable cause affidavit.

“A person 18 years of age or older who engages in sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct with another person, when the person knows that the other person is related to the person biologically as a parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, aunt, uncle, niece, or nephew, commits incest, a Level 5 felony,” according to Indiana Code.

Police say there were at least 12 incidents between Hostetler and the victim, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Hostetter reportedly moved to Missouri after the incident.

An Indiana State Trooper contacted the Barry County Sheriff’s Department in Missouri and spoke with a deputy detective, who had made contact with an elderly girlfriend Hostetter had been living with. His location was confirmed at an address in Purdy, Missouri.

A trooper called Hostetter, who admitted he has lived in Huntington.

In an interview with police, Hostetter said he felt like the victim in the scenario before saying it was “time to get it out,” adding that he was feeling guilt and remorse.

The relationship lasted for about a month, according to interviews recorded in police reports.

Hostetter’s initial hearing was held on Tuesday, Sept. 3. A pretrial conference is set for Nov. 4 at 8:15 a.m.

A no-contact order was issued and a split bond was set at $70,000.
