The Huntington North girls golf team hit the course on Saturday for the second time of the 2019 season to compete in the East Noble Invite, held at the Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendallville, Indiana.

The Vikings fired a team score of 424 to place 10th out of 12 teams in the tournament.

“They did a good job considering four of the girls had never played Noble Hawk before,” said head coach Ron Vinson. “The score didn’t really show, but they did play better (than at the Huntington North Invite last week).”

Sophomore Grace Dill led the way for the Lady Vikes, carding a team-best 97 at the tournament.

Vinson was proud of Dill’s play and noted she will see her scores come down as she continues to put in work on her game.

Junior Macy McCloskey finished second on Huntington North with a score of 107.

Sophomore Josie Eckert and freshman Carley Roth tied for fourth on the Vikings by firing rounds of 110 each to complete Huntington North’s scorecard.

Sophomore Haley Newton rounded out the Viking contingent with a non-scoring 122.

“All the girls are working hard,” Vinson said. “If they keep that up, we’ll improve every time we get out and play.”

Bishop Dwenger won the East Noble Invite with a team score of 355, just one ahead of second-place Concord. Huntington North’s efforts placed ahead of Goshen (11th place, 454) and Garrett (12th place, 489). The hosts, East Noble, carded their best score in three years, finishing in fifth place with a team tally of 379.

The Lady Vikes will return to the course on Wednesday for their first head-to-head match of the 2019 season, hosting Leo in a Northeast 8 Conference duel. Tee time is set for 5 p.m. at Norwood Golf Club in Huntington.
