Huntington North swimming hosts Wabash

The Huntington North boys and girls swim teams hosted Wabash at the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA on Tuesday night. The boys team fell 96–58, while the girls lost 102–66.

The boys team picked up seven event victories, including five individual titles.

Sophomore Cole Davidson earned two event victories, winning the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:32.36 and the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:12.88.

Freshman Colten Schulte won the 100 Yard Butterfly, edging Wabash’s Michael Cordes by just over one second. Schulte finished the race in 1:12.25.

Senior Keegan Mautz took home the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 58.61, while junior Nathan York claimed the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:12.34.

The Vikings also picked up a pair of team relay victories in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (2:00.27) and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:50.43). Both races featured quartets comprised by the Vikings’ four swimmers.

The girls team, meanwhile, dominated the event victories throughout their meet, winning nine of the 11 events.

Juniors Allie Aschliman (200 Yard IM, 2:30.36; 100 Yard Backstroke, 1:11.52) and Laney Shaw (200 Yard Freestyle, 2:19.10; 100 Yard Butterfly, 1:12.99) and senior Macy Lange (500 Yard Freestyle, 6:47.49; 100 Yard Breaststroke, 1:24.31) led the way for Huntington North individually.

Junior Alyssa Brinkman rounded out the Vikings’ individual victories in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a winning time of 29.96.

Huntington North earned team relay victories in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (2:12.19) and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:56.26) with quartets comprised of the aforementioned swimmers.

The Vikings’ boys and girls swim teams will next be in action on Jan. 12, competing in the Northeast 8 Conference meets. The meets are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
