Vikings host gynastics invitational

The Huntington North gymnastics team finished fourth at their invitational meet on Saturday morning at Huntington North, scoring a total of 93.575 points as a team.

The Vikings’ score was enough to top East Noble, who scored 91.625, but trailed behind DaKalb (102.875), Homestead (103.200) and Carroll (105.700) in the invitational.

Junior Aleah Eckert paced the Vikings with an all-around score of 32.575. Eckert posted scores of 8.500 on the vault, 6.450 on the bars, 8.400 on the beam and 9.225 on the floor to comprise her all-around total. Eckert’s scores on the vault, beam and floor all led Huntington North.

Freshman Emma Wilson finished second on the Vikings with an all-around score of 30.775, with individual event scores of 8.050 on the vault, 6.875 on the bars, 7.675 on the beam and 8.175 on the floor. Wilson’s bar score led Huntington North.

Freshman Chloe Camomile came in third on Huntington North, tallying an all-around score of 29.650. Camomile posted scores of 8.300 on the vault, 6.050 on the bars, 7.325 on the beam and 7.975 on the floor.

Junior Corynn Barton rounded out the Vikings’ all-around quartet with a score of 27.900, recording scores of 8.400 on the vault, 5.725 on the bars, 5.575 on the beam and 8.200 on the floor.

Sophomore Alexa Spahr also competed for the Vikings on the vault, beam and floor, tallying scores of 7.750, 5.400 and 7.750 in the events, respectively.

WRESTLING

The Huntington North wrestling team competed in the East Noble Invitational on Saturday and claimed the tournament championship with a total of 212 points.

The Vikings outlasted Manchester (210.5), Elkhart Central (198), East Noble (193.5), South Side (165) and Northrop (126) en route to the title.

Sophomore Preston Teusch (113-pound weight class), senior Ricky Haught (132-pound weight class), junior Cody McCune (152-pound weight class), senior Charlie Agnew (195-pound weight class) and senior Christian Graft (220-pound weight class) all won their weight classes at the invitational to help guide Huntington North.

Junior Brady Lewis (106-pound weight class) and sophomore Michael Kline (138-pound weight class) placed second in their weight classes while junior Trenton Smith (285-pound weight class) and sophomore Matthew Kline (145-pound weight class) claimed third place in their respective weight classes to help the Vikings’ cause.
