Charles Edwin Campbell March 26, 1930 - Nov. 1, 2018

Charles Edwin “Bud” Campbell, age 88, of Huntington, died at 7:25 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at his home.

Visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Chris Hayden and Dr. Sam Young officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington County with military graveside rites performed by VFW Post #2689 of Huntington.

Preferred memorials are to Central Christian Church or Parkview Hospice, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750.

Bud was born on March 26, 1930, in Jefferson Township, Huntington County, the son of Chester O. and Ila V. (Wamsley) Campbell. He attended Warren High School and graduated through his Korean War service from 1952-1954 in the United States Army. He married Charlotte Williams on Nov. 2, 1952, at Huntington Church of the Brethren. He co-owned Hall’s Trucking in Fort Wayne and retired after 40 years as an over-the-road truck driver for Teamsters Local 414. He also drove school buses and buses for sports teams for Huntington County Community Schools and was loved by all of the kids. Bud worked in construction and as a driver for Niswander. He shuttled patients for Parkview Hospital as a volunteer and was part of the Hospital Guild from 1997-2018. Bud was a member of Central Christian Church in Huntington. No one was a stranger to him, especially children, and he was always there for others to lend a hand.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Charlotte Campbell of Huntington; a son, Clifford Dean (Debi Caton) Campbell of Stephenson, Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Debra Sue Campbell of Stockbridge, Michigan; a sister, Janet L. Simmons of Huntington; grandchildren Vanessa (Mike) Haight and Leah Simone (Jessi) Spring; and great-grandchildren Owen Charles, Jillian Reese and Juniper Spring. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Edwin Jr. “Chuck” Campbell; a sister, Betty Lou Stouder; and brothers Leroy Campbell and Kenneth Campbell.
