John L. Baker April 10, 1941 - Oct. 8, 2018

John L. Baker, 77, of Huntington passed away at 10:52 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. John was a 1960 graduate of Union High School. He had worked at Hayes Lemmerz in Huntington and was a farmer, retiring from both. He currently worked as a safety guard at C.F. Industries. He was a former Polk Township Trustee, former board member of Huntington County Historical Society, and was currently on the Huntington Township Advisory Board as well as a member of the Lions Club. John was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Wabash Primitive Baptist Church.

John was born on April 10, 1941, in Huntington, the son of Dale and Pauline (Sunderman) Baker.

He was united in marriage to Joy Oswalt on April 6, 1968, in Huntington. She preceded him in death on June 8, 2014.

Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Miller of Andrews; a son, John “Mike” (Jenn McCann) Baker of Andrews; four grandchildren, Brittany Miller of Indianapolis, Alexis (Jacob) Graft of Markle, Braden Updike and Cameron Updike, both of Huntington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Baker, sisters Janet Albertson and Sara Braun and a grandson, Zachary Miller.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.

Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery.
