Man hospitalized in stabbing

by Andrew Maciejewski - amaciejewski@h-ponline.com

A man was hospitalized, Monday, in relation to a stabbing at Evergreen Park in Huntington around 7 p.m., according to the Huntington Police Department.

The Huntington County Sheriff’s Department and HPD responded to a stabbing call at 6:58 p.m. on Sept. 10, where officers located two men in their mid 20s suffering from injuries. One of the men was airlifted from the scene to Parkview Regional Medical Center, and another man was taken to the Huntington Police Department Annex for further questioning, according to a HPD press release.

Indiana State Police public information officer Ron Galaviz said ISP sent a crime scene technician to help process the scene. HPD is currently investigating the stabbing, according to ISP, but HPD has not responded to any media requests.

It is unclear if the suspect is armed or still at large. Arrest records show no arrests were made Monday after the time the incident occurred.

Police have not released the victim’s identity or the victims’ current conditions.

Huntington County Prosecutor Amy Richison said no charges or warrants have been filed related to the stabbing, as of deadline Tuesday, since the court has not received a completed investigation.

HPD was assisted by HCSD, ISP, Huntington County Prosecutor’s Office, Huntington City Fire Department and Parkview Huntington Hospital.

No further information has been released, as of deadline Tuesday at 5 p.m.

According to Indiana Code 5-14-3-5, police departments must maintain a record available for inspection and copying within 24 hours of any incident involving a crime that includes “the name and age of any victim,” and “a general description of any injuries, property, or weapons involved.”

The Herald-Press will provide updates as further information is released.
