Win streak snaps for Vikings

Boy’s tennis

Huntington North saw it’s winning streak snapped on Monday at the hands of Carroll by a 4-1 result.

The Vikings’ point came at No. 3 singles from Carson Kitchen with the freshman winning 6-2, 6-4 over Max Carmondy.

Thomas Schweller was blanked at No. 1 singles 0-6, 0-6 by Luke Stoffel. Adam Zahn fell after a tight second set at No. 2 singles to Grant Newman, losing 3-6, 6-7 (9-11).

The doubles team of junior Isaac Eckert and senior Clark Kitchen lost to Tyler Gibson and Josh Jackson 4-6, 3-6 at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 doubles team of Noah Zahn and Spencer Atkinson fell to Jonathon Hess and Ethan Koeneman 2-6, 2-6.

The loss drops Huntington North to 6-4 on the season and ends the six-game win streak the Vikings had after starting 0-3 to the season.

Boys’ golf

The Huntington North girls’ golf team returned to the course on Monday, hosting No. 3 Homestead at Norwood Golf Course in a make-up from a rainout earlier in the season

The Spartans came away with the decisive victory on the evening, winning 147-175.

Amara Eckert and Laura Ham fired rounds of 40 on the night to lead the Vikings. Grace Dill carded a 47, Crosley Stanley a 48 and Danielle Gonser a non-scoring 51.

The loss drops Huntington North to 8-3 on the season.

In JV action, the Vikings fell 161-217. Megan Stephan shot a 49, Macy McCloskey a 54, Haley Newton and Josie Eckert a 57 and Alex Hoch a non-scoring 58.

The Vikings host Senior Night on Thursday against Marion before traveling to Arbor Trace on Saturday for sectional action.
