Viking volleyball drops five-setter

Volleyball

The Huntington North volleyball team saw an early lead disintegrate on Thursday as visiting Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian earned a five-set win, 21-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-13, 16-14.

Macy Niswander finished with a team-high 26 kills while Lydia Riggers added 27 assists to guide the offense. Brette Fawcett led the team in aces with three and digs with 31. Niswander and Maddy Robrock each had three blocks.

The Vikings are now 9-6 on the season and return to action on Tuesday at Homestead. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Boys’ tennis

The Huntington North boys’ tennis team kept its win streak rolling on Thursday with a 5-0 decision over New Haven, improving the team to 6-3 overall on the year.

Thomas Schweller earned a decisive 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles while Adam Zahn won 6-0, 6-2 at NO. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Carson Kitchen won 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles play, the team of Isaac Eckert and Clark Kitchen won 6-3, 6-2 while Noah Zahn and Spencer Atkinson won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

The Vikings have now won six-straight contests and are 3-0 in Northeast 8 Conference play.
