David Lee Heiney April 21, 1942 - July 19, 2018

David Lee Heiney, age 76, of Huntington, died at 7:55 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018 at St. Catherine of Alexandria, 9989 South State Road 9, Columbia City, with Father Dale Bauman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Catherine of Alexandria Cemetery. A celebration of life immediately following the graveside services will be held in the church hall directly across the road from the cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to St. Catherine of Alexandria or Huntington County Historical Museum, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750.

Dave was born on April 21, 1942 in Huntington, the son of Harold E. and Agnes A. (Pfister) Heiney. He graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1960 and served in the United States Air Force, Airman First Class. He worked in maintenance at Our Sunday Visitor in Huntington and was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria in Whitley County. He was also a member of Huntington County Historical Society, VFW Post #2689 of Huntington, and the Clear Creek Alumni Association. He loved theater and attending plays, and he loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed traveling and was known for his elaborate Christmas decorating.

Survivors include brothers Dennis (Diane) Heiney of Montpelier, Ohio and Joseph (Judy) Heiney of Churubusco, sisters Jean Ann Heiney of Zephyrhills, Florida and Martha L. (Susie Johnson) Heiney of Machesney Park, Illinois, an aunt, Virginia Weinley of Huntington, nephews Kris Heiney of Defiance, Ohio and David (Sarah) Fox of Huntertown, a niece, Kim (Stephen) Skalinder of Chicago, Illinois, three great nephews, and three great nieces. His parents precede him in death.
