Roanoke gets new chamber member

BY HEATHER COX - hcox@h-ponline.com

Roanoke Chamber of Commerce Board Member Stephanie McKibben introduced the chamber’s newest employee to the Roanoke Town Council on Tuesday night.

Alisa Alaimo, now the Director of Marketing for the Chamber, previously worked for Britton Marketing for four years before her recent start at the chamber.

McKibben and Alaimo went on to update the council on what they have been working on, including a 5,000 piece mailer, social media and updating their billboard.

They also discussed the design they had sent the council for the updated billboard going up on Interstate 69, and received positive feedback. Additionally, when asked if they would be working on updating the website as well, McKibben and Alaimo said it is in the works, as it hasn’t been updated in 10 years.

Following the chamber’s update, Supervisor of Operations, Phil Hibbert, told the council there is a stormwater sewer in need of repair on 4th street. Hibbert explained that the cost estimate he had was between $1,300-1,600, and would like to get it repaired before the car show, which is taking place on July 21.

To end the meeting, council member John Stoeckley thanked the Police and Fire departments for their hard work.

“I’d just like to say thank you to the town employees, the police department, fire department ... we’ve had heat and weather that is just ungodly hot, these people are out there everyday – the police department (with) 30 pound vests and this and that – thanks guys, we appreciate it,” he said.

The next Roanoke Town Council meeting is scheduled for July 17 at 7 p.m.
