Forester baseball welcomes 17 recruits

The Huntington University baseball team will see a big revitalization in the program this coming fall with 17 recruits slated to join the program.

Most notable for local fans is the trio of Collin Landrum, Ian McCutcheon and Jarret Gray, a trio that has been well-documented this season as they guided the Vikings to a top ranking in the state.

The Foresters will also see another recruit that was apart of a top team in the state join the program in Ryan Hale of Daleville. Hale led the Broncos to a state title in Class A, hitting .371 on the season with a team-best 36 RBIs and 17 extra-base hits.

Class 4A’s state champion Fishers will send Alex Jamieson to Huntington University this fall as well. The catcher hit 3.16 on the year with 41 RBIs and 36 hits while sporting a .973 fielding percentage behind the plate.

Max Moser of Jay County, who advanced to the semi-state, will become a Forester as well. Moser hit .325 on the season with 27 runs, 26 RBIs and 25 hits on the year while swiping 25 bases. New Palestine’s Cameron Pitzer hit .341 on the season with 31 hits and 16 runs in 29 games in his senior season before heading to Huntington University.

Rising Sun’s Brent Turner is committed to the Foresters, bringing with him a .392 average from his senior season with 31 hits, 32 RBIs and 30 runs. Satchell Wilson of Lapel hit an eye-popping .506 at the plate with 44 hits, 36 runs and 21 RBIs,

Another local recruit in Peru’s Nathan Brimbury will join the program. For the Tigers this season, Brimbury averaged .375 at the plate with 27 hits and 23 RBIs, helping Peru capture a sectional title.

Basketball recruit Caleb Middlesworth is also slated to take the diamond as well. The 6’8” pitcher sported a 2.75 ERA in 48.1 innings on the mound, striking out 48 while walking 22.

Also joining the program will be Kaine Benge of North Putnam, Joey Butz of Heritage Christian, Gabe Freeman of Delta High School in Delta, OH and Ryan Walker of Eaton Rapids High School in Eaton Rapids, MI

The Foresters will also have a pair of college transfers in Austin Pritchard of Santa Ana College and Eli Knust of Vincennes University.
