The Huntington North girls’ tennis team added another postseason honor to its growing list as the Vikings were named as one of Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association (IHSTECA) Academic All-State Team winners.

The award is awarded to teams with an average GPA of 3.60 on a 4.00 scale with rosters comprised of athletes that competed in the postseason. The GPAs submitted are cumulative GPAs for the entirety of each athlete’s time in high school.

Huntington North was one of 73 teams across the state of Indiana to earn the award this season. The Vikings also earned the award in 2015.

The IHSTECA All-State and All-District teams were also released with representation from Huntington North.

The duo of Macy Wohlford and Jule Nogaj earned All-State Honorable Mention as a duo for 2018.

The two also were honored with District 2 All-District accolades as one of seven doubles teams.

On the season, Wohlford and Nogaj had a team-best record of 17-4 with a 6-1 mark in Northeast 8 Conference (NE8) play.

Wohlford and Nogaj also earned All-Conference honors and helped lead Huntington North to a 16-5 record overall and a 5-2 mark in the NE8.

As a team, Huntington North finished second in the NE8 with the 5-2 mark before breaking through once more and capturing the sectional title with a 3-2 win over Norwell, who won the NE8 crown on the year.

En route to the title, Huntington North knocked off Bellmont and Adams Central by identical scores of 5-0.

The Vikings earned a 5-0 win over Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran in the regional before losing to Fort Wayne Carroll 5-0 in the regional final.
