Matched up against Homestead, the Vikings dropped a narrow 3-2 contest to fall to 11-3 on the season.

Jessica Henline picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles while Tarah Zumbrun won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for the points for the Vikings on the night.

At No. 2 singles, Kassidy Thompson lost 4-6, 3-6 while the pair of Macy Wohlford and Jule Nogaj lost 2-6, 3-6 at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 doubles team of Braxtyn Maroney and Leann Ringenberg lost 4-6, 3-6 at No. 2 doubles.

Softball

Despite scoring the first three runs of the night, the Huntington North softball team fell at home to Norwell 8-4.

The Vikings scored twice in the first inning on a Kendra Arnold RBI single and a Maddie Levy RBI triple. The second inning saw the hosts tack on another run on a Kodi Douglass single into left field to plate Sydney Selvage.

Norwell’s comeback began in the fourth inning with a pair of runs before the guests took the lead with three more runs in the fifth inning.

Leading 5-4 heading into the seventh, Norwell added a trio of insurance runs that proved to be valuable to take an 8-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

Laney Shaw would pull one run back with a two-out homer, but Huntington North could not manage anything else in the frame as they dropped to 9-10 overall and 1-5 in Northeast 8 Conference play.

Macy Lange and Arnold each had two hits on the day. Douglass, Shaw, Levy, Sophie Eckert and Sydney Selvage each had one hit.

Arnold took the loss, giving up eight runs, five earned, with eight hits and five walks to go along with eight strikeouts in seven innings of work.
