The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday presented awards to 10 Huntington North High School students and one $1,000 scholarship.

Isiah Kitzmiller, HNHS senior, received the $1,000 scholarship presented by Steve Petry, Chamber board chair, Russ Degitz, HNHS principal, and Randy Harris, superintendent.

“I have been in the automotive program at the high school for two years and have learned a lot,” Kitzmiller said.

He will attend Ohio Technical College in the fall to study auto diesel for automotive and diesel mechanics. He said he plans on using the scholarship for college.

There were 10 student awards presented to students who were nominated by their teachers.

Perry said it is important to honor the students for excellence in a particular field they are studying.

“We want to encourage that and show we appreciate what they are doing,” Petry said.
