Korporal competes at state meet

Huntington North’s Danielle Korporal wrapped up her gymnastics career on Saturday at the state meet held at Worthen Arena at Ball State University.

The senior took part in the floor routine where she finished with a score of 8.900, placing her 36th in the 44-competitor field.

Jordan Bush of Chesteron took first place in the floor routine with a score of 9.825 while Valparaiso’s duo of Elisabeth Wilson and Rachel Moneta took second and third places, respectively.

Chesterton captured the team title while Valparaiso took second overall.

Boys’ track

The Huntington North boys’ track team took part in its second Hoosier State Relay Qualifier on Saturday at Trine University.

Carson Bolinger led the way on the day, taking first in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.03.

The 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of Brock Spahr, Kasey Konz, Jacob Wust and Bolinger took second on the day. Bolinger also added a fourth-place finish in the high jump while Damon Kaylor took fourth in the shot put with a hurl of 44’10.25”.

The Vikings will be off until next Tuesday, March. 20 when they travel to Homestead for a three-way meet with Fort Wayne Northrop.
